Samuel Jackman Prescod Institute of Technology (SJPI)

Samuel Jackman Prescod Institute of Technology (SJPI) is a Technical Vocational Education and Training institution, whose mission is “to be the leader in the preparation of a highly trained workforce by providing qualified persons with quality competency-based technical vocational training that responds to the future employment and lifelong needs of students”.

The Division of Human Ecology of the SJPI  offers several areas of study in the field of Home Economics. The main programmes are the Diplomas in Home Economics,  Garment Technology and Cosmetology, Certificates in Catering, Nursing Auxiliary Studies, Esthetics and several courses in Textile Product Design .

The Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA)

logo_CARPHAThe Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) is the new single regional public health agency for the Caribbean. It was legally established in July 2011 by an Inter-Governmental Agreement signed by Caribbean Community Member States and began operation in January 2013. The Agency rationalises public health arrangements in the Region by combining the functions of five Caribbean Regional Health Institutes (RHIs) into a single agency. The Caribbean Association of Home Economists Inc. works closely with CARPHA in the area of Nutrition.

University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech)

utechFormerly known as the Jamaica Institute of Technology and the College of Arts, Science and Technology, the University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech) has several faculties including the Faculty of Education and Liberal Studies which offers many programmes in Family and Consumer Sciences.

Ontario Home Economics Association

ohea-logo2The Ontario Home Economics Association, a self-regulating body of professional Home Economists promotes high professional standards among its members so that they may assist families and individuals to achieve and maintain a desirable quality of life.The Caribbean Association of Home Economists Inc. was twinned with the Toronto Home Economics Association in 1987. This was inaugurated under the presidency of Dame Gwendolyn Tonge. This association was instrumental in the production of learning materials and the initial textbook series; Caribbean Home Economics in Action Books 1-3.
