SUMMARY:26th Biennial Conference of the Caribbean Association of Home Economists Inc.
DESCRIPTION:The 26th biennial conference will be held in St. Vincent and the Grenadines\, 21st – 24th March 2027 under the theme “Caribbean Home Economists Balancing the Future: Tackling Overconsumption for Sustainable Living” \nThe theme represents a pressing global need to address patterns of excess that threaten human health\, family well-being\, and the planet’s ecological balance. Overconsumption impacts every dimension of life: food\, nutrition and health\, consumer behaviour\, clothing and textiles\, environmental resources\, family stability\, and even emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence. \nThe Caribbean Association of Home Economist Inc is uniquely positioned and confronted with the critical need to address the necessity of balancing food consumption patterns in the future. This focus extends beyond achieving optimum health but also to encompass food security and the overall quality of life of our people. Of parallel importance is the need for home economists as multidisciplinary field\, to confront the other key perennial sectors identified by empowering our practitioners\, households\, and communities with the knowledge and skills to make informed\, and sustainable choices. By doing so\, it helps to inculcate attitudes and behaviours that result in positive change. \nThis theme aligns closely with the global call for responsible stewardship of resources articulated in Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 12: which advocates for responsible consumption and production\, highlighting the need to reduce waste\, promote sustainable lifestyles\, and transform consumption patterns.
