Honorary Members

Honorary Membership is conferred by the Association to recognize individuals who have rendered exceptional service to the Association and/or made significant contributions to the advancement of Home Economics. To date, the Association has awarded this distinguished status to three individuals: Madame Justice Monica Barnes, Dr. Curtis McIntosh, and Dr. Fitzroy Henry.

Madame Justice Monica Barnes | Honorary Member (1997)

Madame Justice Monica Barnes (deceased) was a distinguished jurist of Trinidad and Tobago whose career in the administration of justice was marked by integrity, fairness, and a deep commitment to national development. Her work contributed significantly to strengthening social structures and promoting the well-being of families and communities—principles that align closely with the philosophy of Home Economics.

In recognition of her exceptional service and her contribution to advancing issues that impact quality of life, the Caribbean Association of Home Economists (CAHE) conferred upon her Honorary Membership in 1997.

Caribbean Food and Nutrition Institute (CFNI)

Dr. Curtis McIntosh of Grenada is a respected professional in the field of food and nutrition, whose work has had a lasting impact on public health across the Caribbean. Through his contributions at the Caribbean Food and Nutrition Institute (CFNI), he has played a key role in promoting nutrition education, food security, and healthier lifestyles within the region.

His dedication to improving the nutritional well-being of Caribbean populations reflects the core values of Home Economics. In recognition of his outstanding contribution to the field and to regional development, CAHE awarded him Honorary Membership in 1997.

Dr. Fitzroy Henry | Honorary Member (1997)

University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech)

Dr. Fitzroy Henry is a distinguished academic and leader in nutrition and public health at the University of Technology, Jamaica. His extensive work in research, teaching, and policy development has significantly influenced nutrition practices and health outcomes in Jamaica and the wider Caribbean.

Dr. Henry’s commitment to advancing knowledge and improving quality of life through education exemplifies the principles of Home Economics. In recognition of his exceptional contributions to the field and his regional impact, CAHE conferred upon him Honorary Membership in 2017.
